Dickey Boats is looking for a qualified Joiner / Cabinet Maker who is looking for a new challenge

Unique opportunity to use your skills in a marine environment

Dickey Boats is an award-winning aluminium boat building company based in Napier. With a growing range of custom and innovative boats, an opportunity is now available in our Fitout Interiors team as a Joiner / Cabinet Maker.

Dickey Boats is looking for an exceptional team member, not afraid of hard work, with an unflinching focus on quality workmanship while always striving to exceed customer expectations.

The Fitout Interiors team is made up of specialists in marine interiors, cabinetmaking, and upholstery. Ideal candidates will be trade qualified, offering outstanding abilities in their field while presenting an appetite to learn and grow skills in all areas.

This is a fast-paced environment that would suit an energetic tradesperson who has an eye for detail and enjoys being part of a successful team culture. With no two boats being the same, this role provides an opportunity for involvement in custom projects that are both challenging and rewarding.

As part of the Fitout Interiors team, you will be responsible for:

  • Assembly and installation of cabinetry solutions across our range of boats - utilising both laminate and veneered surfaces.
  • Working with the design team to find innovative interior solutions to match customer briefs.
  • Altering panels to fit customised structural designs, using skills such as scribing, marking and adjusting.
  • Soft interior linings (eg foam-backed vinyl coverings or marine carpet trimming), flooring options and general fit out.

About You

You will have excellent general finishing abilities and an eye for detail. A knowledge of the marine environment and its effect on materials would be beneficial and a passion for boats would certainly help!

You may have experience in a different industry such as carpentry, furniture making, kitchen joinery, or campervan interiors and are able to transfer these skills into a boatbuilding environment.

Either way, you will need to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the continuous improvement of the product, the systems and processes, and enjoy challenging your abilities.

How to Apply:

If this role sounds like it could provide your next challenge, please apply by including a cover letter and CV. For further information, don't hesitate to contact Tris Dickey at Dickey Boats on 021 375981 or by email at for a confidential discussion.

About Dickey Boats:
