Dickey Boats is a boat building company, based in Napier, and has been at the cutting edge of innovative boatbuilding over the past 15 years.

Dickey Boats is now looking for a skilled Upholsterer to join their marine interiors team.

About the role:

Initially, the successful candidate will be expected to follow custom design patterns and procedures to produce interiors excellence, with the expectation that they can grow into taking ownership of the upholstery solutions in the interiors team.

There will be immediate opportunity to add value to our boats by working in the following areas:

·        Construction and installation of foam-backed liners, paneling and trims

·        Working with vinyls, leathers and various fabrics and threads

·        Single and double needle sewing machines

·        Creating various foam shapes and textures

·        Develop seating and squab solutions

The ability to work in a planned and organised manner within a small team and be physically fit are pre-requisites for the role.  Organisational skills and creative thinking to develop solutions that match the company brand and workplace values are expected from candidates.

About the candidate:

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a “creatively organised” individual to take ownership of all aspects of upholstery, with a particular focus on marine interiors.

The ideal candidate should be passionate about their craft and bring a vast experience in upholstery – this could be from time spent as an auto trimmer, a custom canvas producer, a sailmaker, within marine interiors, as an executive upholsterer or in the aviation sector.

Alternatively, applications from ambitious and driven junior upholsterers are welcome.

Dickey Boats is looking for a hard-working, honest, respectful individual who brings energetic enthusiasm to this role.  An enthusiasm for boats and the marine environment will be beneficial.

The right person will discover significant opportunities for growth and development within the driven team. You will be working with people dedicated to quality and craftsmanship, delivering first-class vessels that exceed customer expectations.

If this role sounds like it could provide your next challenge, please apply by including a cover letter and CV with your application.
