Boatbuilding industry leader Dickey Boats is looking for an aluminium boat builder or ship builder to join the fabrication team.

With a concept 63-foot sportfishing ocean cruiser underway, new Dickey Boats models and a newly established production line, the work will be interesting and varied.

We believe this is a unique opportunity for an experienced boatbuilder or aluminium welder/fabricator to take a vital position in one of New Zealand’s most progressive and respected custom boat builders.

About the Role:
Hull strength and integrity is vital to the offshore capabilities of our celebrated craft. The fabrication team is responsible for delivering the quality-controlled construction standard of every Dickey boat they build.

You will work within the fabrication team, and with the Fabrication Supervisor, to ensure team ownership of the complete end-to-end process.

During our extended sea-trialling procedure, we ensure you will have opportunities to experience first-hand the on-water capabilities of the completed vessel ready for handover.  We see this as essential to understanding the role structural integrity plays in our acclaimed blue-water performance.

About the candidate:

The following skills and experience are highly desirable:

  • A qualification in alloy boat building or relevant experience
  • Aluminium welding and fabrication skills
  • Pride in your work environment and exceptional craftsmanship
  • Positive attitude and respect for awesome teamwork
  • Ability to work with vigilance and help problem-solve on new builds

Alternative Backgrounds:

Ideally you will have a background in aluminium boat building, however the right candidate may come from one of the following industries:

  • Ship-building
  • Aluminium Systems construction and assembly
  • Sheetmetal fabrication / welding with aluminium experience

Progression opportunities and options to take on greater responsibility are available for the right person, proven over time.

If you currently work with another fabricator or ship builder, we will consider the opportunity for two to join the team.

Physical fitness is a prerequisite for the role. An enthusiasm for boats and the marine environment will contribute significantly to your success at Dickey Boats.

How to Apply:

If this role sounds like it could provide your next challenge, please apply by including a cover letter and CV. For further information, don't hesitate to contact Tris Dickey at Dickey Boats on 021 375981 or by email at careers@dickeyboats.com for a confidential discussion.
